Anna Bocknek

As a child I had boundless energy. My parents thought dance classes would be an excellent outlet for me, thus began my career as a dancer. I studied many types of dance but my passion is ballet. Under the tutelage of a Kirov Ballet Master I learned the importance of discipline, perseverance, strength and grace. Ballet is all about the line of the body; you need muscles that are lean, long, and most importantly very strong. When you are dancing “on pointe”, the only thing separating the tops of your toes from the floor are thin layers of satin and glue. The job of keeping yourself upright and balanced falls on you. Keeping myself in shape has always been important for me, personally and professionally.

Dance opened the door to the arts for me. In high school I attended the Virginia Governor’s School for the Arts, and in college I studied Musical Theater. Upon graduating college, I traveled the country working at different theatres. Now that I was a professional dancer, maintaining my strength as well as achieving the cosmetic look I wanted took on a whole new meaning.

As a professional artist and dancer I sustained injuries that led me outside the realm of traditional physical therapy and chiropractic care for treatment. One injury in particular involving a muscle in my leg was basically career ending. I was told that I would never fully recover, that I would always have limited flexibility and range of motion. Then I met Rich Barretta. Within two months of working with Rich, utilizing target training with resistance, I was back to dancing. I was doing things I was told I wouldn’t be able to do again. What Rich was able to give me is invaluable. It inspired me to want to help others as Rich helped me. I believe in fostering a strong mind-body connection. It is important for helping you to understand what is working and why. I enjoy mentoring and motivating, working with you to reach your fitness goals. I have many techniques to improve strength and endurance, as well as flexibility, while maintaining long lean lines. I’m excited to share them with you. Let’s get started!

Testimonials

“I’ve been training with Anna since the beginning of the year and I love it! She gives me a good variety of workouts and keeps me challenged. She helped me keep track of my food intake initially, but not obsessively. I’m anti-diet and she helped me make small but helpful adjustments to the way I eat. I like that they make you fill out a short but structured survey when you first start to match you up with the right trainer, who can help you toward different goals. “- Vania K

“I really want to thank you for everything you have taught and helped me with over the last year (plus now!) I felt strong, confident, fit and really happy with myself on my wedding day and I attribute that to you, your patience, graciousness and wisdom !I feel like I have learned so much from our sessions in terms of physical fitness but also seeing how far I can push myself and trying to go beyond what I think are my boundaries. On the morning of the wedding, I did my cheerleaders and popped my deltoids with our routine and felt fantastic!! All your guidance and coaching. I am so grateful and appreciative. Can’t thank you enough dear Anna!”- Emily K

I have been training with Anna now for a few months and it has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! I’ve worked with personal trainers before that I felt like all they wanted was for me to pick up heavy things and put them down. They never asked specifically what I wanted to achieve and how I wanted to get there. Anna took the time to talk to me and ask me questions and really tried to find out everything I wanted from private training. She’s amazing! She is always available to contact and she really thinks about me when creating our workouts. I can’t say enough about how much I love working with Anna and at Rich Barretta Private Training! I would recommend this gym to everyone!”- Courtney R.
